What does 'unable to work' mean on my policy?
It is defined in your policy. The three common definitions are own occupation (you cannot do your own job), suited occupation (you cannot do any job suited to your experience) and activities-based (you cannot perform a set number of everyday tasks). Your claim is assessed against whichever definition applies.
Own occupation
The broadest. You can claim if illness or injury stops you doing the material duties of your own job.
Suited occupation
You must be unable to do your own job and any other job reasonably suited to your education, training and experience.
Activities-based
Used where occupation-based cover is not available. You claim if you cannot carry out a set number of specified daily activities.
