My partner has moved in — should we combine/review cover?

Life insuranceCritical illness coverIncome protection
The short answer

It is a good time to review. Living together often means shared rent or a mortgage and shared bills, so each of you may rely on the other's income. You might consider joint or separate policies, adjust cover amounts and check beneficiaries. Unmarried partners do not automatically inherit, so trusts can be particularly important.

Joint or single policies

Joint cover is often cheaper but pays once. Two single policies give more flexibility if circumstances change.

Existing policies

Keep your own existing cover in place. Its terms may be better than new cover.

Wills

Consider making or updating wills so your wishes are clear.
