Guaranteed vs reviewable premiums: are my premiums fixed?

All protectionLife insuranceCritical illness coverIncome protection
The short answer

Some policies have guaranteed premiums, while others are reviewable or age-related. Guaranteed means the insurer will not change the premium under the policy's pricing basis, but indexation or customer-requested changes can still alter what is paid.

What does guaranteed premium mean?

A guaranteed premium basis generally means the insurer cannot change the premium simply because its claims experience worsens, although premiums can still change if the policy itself provides for cover increases or alterations.

What does reviewable premium mean?

Reviewable premiums can be reassessed under contractual rules at specified times or circumstances. The insurer notice and policy wording should explain the basis and options.
