I don't think I need my policy any more: what should I consider?
Needs can change, but check first. Think about why you took out the policy and whether that reason still exists: debts, dependants, income your family relies on. If the need has gone, cancelling may be right. If it has only reduced, lowering cover may be better, as replacing cover later can cost more.
What you would give up
Existing cover is based on your health when you applied. New cover may cost more or exclude conditions.
Support benefits
Some policies include services you may use, such as remote GP access.
How to cancel
Contact the insurer directly. Stopping your direct debit alone may not cancel the policy cleanly.
