I've found cheaper cover elsewhere: should I switch?

All protection
The short answer

Compare carefully before switching. A new policy is priced on your current age and health, and may have different definitions, exclusions, premium terms and benefits. A cheaper premium can mean less cover. If you do switch, keep your existing policy until the new one has started and you are happy with it.

What to compare

Cover amount, term, type, definitions, exclusions, whether premiums are guaranteed, added benefits and any existing trust.

Health changes

If your health has changed, the new insurer may add exclusions your current policy does not have.

Get advice

An adviser can compare the policies side by side and explain what you would gain and lose.
