When will my first payment be taken?

All protection
The short answer

Your first premium is usually taken shortly after the policy starts, on the date shown in your direct debit confirmation or policy documents. The first collection may include a part-month amount. If you are unsure, check your documents or ask your insurer. Make sure there is money in your account so the payment does not fail.

Choosing the date

Many insurers let you pick or change the collection day, for example to just after payday.

If the payment fails

Contact the insurer straight away. A missed first payment can stop cover starting or put it at risk.

Check your statement

The payment may appear under the insurer's name rather than your adviser's.
