Which policy documents should I keep, and can I get copies?

All protection
The short answer

Keep your policy schedule, which shows your cover, premium and term; the policy terms and conditions; any trust deed; and recent letters about changes. If you have lost them, your insurer can usually send copies or give you online access. Tell someone you trust where they are kept.

Why they matter

They make it much easier for you, or your family, to check what you are covered for and make a claim.

Digital copies

Store scanned copies somewhere secure, and keep originals of trust deeds safely.

Requesting copies

Contact the insurer with your name, date of birth and policy number if you have it.
