I've gained or lost weight: does my insurer need to know?
Usually not. Your existing policy was priced on the information you gave when you applied, and most policies do not require you to report later changes in weight. Check your policy terms to be sure. If you have lost weight and applied with a higher BMI, you could ask whether any extra premium can be reviewed.
Reviewing extra premiums
Some insurers will reconsider loadings if your health has improved, possibly with medical evidence.
New cover
If you apply for new or additional cover, you will be asked about your current height and weight.
Health changes
Significant health changes do not normally affect existing cover, but may be relevant to a claim on critical illness or income protection.
