I have several policies: is that a problem?

All protection
The short answer

Not necessarily. Several policies can cover different needs, such as a mortgage and family income, or different people and terms. Review them together to check there are no unnecessary overlaps and that the total cover matches what you need. For income protection, multiple policies may not all pay in full.

Make a list

Note each policy's insurer, cover, term, premium and whether it is in trust.

Look for gaps and overlaps

You may find cover you no longer need, or a gap such as no income protection.

Tell your family

Make sure someone knows about every policy so none is missed in a claim.
